Mark 4:35-41 Jesus Calms the Storm
- 4:38 Disciples: "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"
- When we encounter turbulences or difficulties in life, it does not mean that God doesn't care. He has a good purpose (Rom 8:28) whether it be to chastise us out of His great love or to refine us and make our faith and understanding of Him grow (Job 23:10).
- 4:40 Jesus: "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"
- If we are close to God and God is with us, we must have faith that even if nothing seems to be going our way, that God cares for us and our lives are in His hands. So instead of complaining or asking why, we can pray: "Lord, I know You can make everything okay if You wanted to (Mk 4:39) but please help me to learn whatever it is You want me to learn from this. I know You are good and do good."
"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
May we always remember these words of Lord Jesus, "Why are you so fearful?", whenever we encounter suffering in our journey of faith. Thank God for your sharing, Abigail!
